Lifetime Achievement Award Winners

2021 Award Winner - Derek Smith

Dear NCVMA Directors and Association members,
Thank you for the honor of receiving the 2021 NCVMA Lifetime Achievement Award. To know one's peers place them in the company of past recipients like: Bill Johnson, Jimmy Brown, Ed Schenk, and others is truly humbling.
We have firmly positioned NCVMA to continue its mission to collect, discuss and disseminate accurate and state-of-the-art information regarding vegetation management. If there is one thing we have learned, the future will be wrought with unknowns but by continuing to work cooperatively, we will accomplish great things.
In my mind, knowing we will be able to financially support undergraduate and graduate student scholarships, plus our steadfast support of the Jimmy V Foundation are among the finest of our accomplishments.
I am proud of our Board of Directors. They have worked tirelessly to keep NCVMA moving forward. Additionally, NCVMA's members are among the most generous, appreciative, and respected professionals with whom I have had the pleasure to be associated.
Thank you, again, for this unexpected recognition.
